I haven't finished writing this but here is what I have so far.
Prologue: Every day of every year a secret event takes place. It is called “L'exposition de la magie” A secret clearing in the middle of a magic forest. Magical beings come to earn money by showing off their skills. Normal humans have strayed upon it over the years and settled there. Hunters and collectors come to find magical beings for their hunts or collections. Only rich normal humans come and go. Sometimes gifted, or people with powers, are taken here and sold as well as magical beings. A town has been formed though it is stuck in medieval times. Old looking. The town has been named Obscura. Many wars have been started here though none take place here. Major fights are forbidden. That doesn’t prevent any deaths or injuries however.
“Get ya fresh ‘ot dogs ‘ere,” a man with a thick accent yelled from behind an old looking stand. He had on a messy looking apron and was short and fat. A classy looking young man approached the stand. He was tall, 6’4” on the spot and 21 years old. The man had a trim black suit on. A shadow lurked behind him. His name was Oberon. “Give me one hot dog,” he said with a voice that was melodious as well as deadly and sharp. The man behind the cart nodded and handed him a hot dog. Oberon took it, tossed the man a piece of silver, and stalked off. He tossed the hot dog to his shadow which hungrily gulped it down. Oberon took to looking for the perfect creature. He ran his hand through his short jet black hair. His skin was dark. Oberon saw a pair of what seemed to be young elves. He shoved his way to the front of the crowd. His shadow was never far behind him. One elf was a boy and the other was a girl. They were showing off their hunting skills. Oberon soon grew bored and strutted off. He turned down a dark alley. His shadow rose from the ground. The red glowing holes where its eyes should have been glowed with an evil hunger. Oberon looked at his shadow. The shadow had a name, Obscurité, or Darkness. Oberon looked at Obscurité, his shadow. Oberon noticed a green dragon in a cage. A sign on the cage. He walked over to see the dragon.
A deep threatening growl emitted from an emerald green dragon’s chest. Each of its four legs were chained to the sides of a cage. All were iron, a dragon’s worst enemy. Iron bands clamped the dragon’s jaws together. His wings were clamped to his sides with iron clamps. A stout man with a thick black beard and messy black hair stood in front of the cage, waiting for a buyer. The dragon was named Fafner. Fafner tried to rear back but because of his chains he only managed to get of the ground a few feet. The cage rattled. The man looked at Fafner. He posted a poorly written sign on his cage ,”Be back in 5- 10 minutes. If you are interested in buying the dragon in the cage wait here until I come back.” He walked off to get some food. A few people stopped and stared then walked away. As a dragon her could become a dragon, a human, a snake, or a tiger. Nothing more or less. Fafner couldn’t become a human thanks to the iron that bound him. A classy looking young man approached his cage, Oberon. Fafner noticed the shadow creature behind him and growled even deeper then before. The stout man who was selling Fafner returned. “You interested in buying?” he asked with a thick slurred voice. “Yes,” Oberon’s icy voice replied softly. “The dragon is 150 gold pieces,” he told Oberon. “Then I must think about it…….” Oberon relied smoothly. Obscurité growled with pleasure at the prospect of the dragon being his and Oberon’s. The dragon narrowed his red eyes at Oberon. He turned and saw a young woman.
Dulcina stalked through the crowds surrounding her. Her long golden hair flowed behind her. The red streaks in her hair stood out even brighter then normal because of the red cloak she wore. Dulcina stood tall. Her thin frame and tan skin enhanced her icy blue eyes. She was 5’7” tall and 18 years old. The young elf noticed a green dragon in a cage. She also saw a man and his shadow. Probably a collector or a hunter. Dulcina shook her head and pulled the hood of her cloak over her pointed ears. She walked over to the dragon. “Is this dragon for sale?” the elf asked the stout man who obviously owned the dragon. “Yes,” he replied with a thick voice, “This man…” Oberon interrupted the seller, “I am Oberon. And I am interested in buying
An amethyst purple dragon with sea-green eyes stood proud on a large platform. On its chest was an oval fire opal that seemed to burn with an ever lasting fire. Shouting some odd words the dragon became a human girl. The girl was tall, 6'8" exactly. Her hair was orange with aqua streaks and went down to her knees. An oval fire opal hung around her neck. She bowed and changed a single hand into a dragon claw. "May I have a volunteer!?" her smooth magical voice rang out. A young man walked forward. She extended her dragon claw out toward him. He gingerly grabbed it and she heaved him up with ease. "Tell me, are you scared of heights?" The girl's name was Alvina. "N...no," the man stammered. "Good," Alvina nodded and became an amethyst purple dragon again. She gently picked him up with her teeth and placed him on her back in between two of her back spines. Unfolding her wings, Alvina took to the skies. The man clung to the spine in front of him as Alvina glided in the air for a few minutes. The she landed with a loud thump on the platform. She bent down to let the man off. Alvina changed into a human again. "Thank you," Alvina said laughingly as the shaken man stepped off the platform. "That will be all for now. Come back later!" Alvina bowed and pushed forward a basket for people to throw money in. She stood until the basket was full of gold and silver and then walked off to get some food and have some fun. Alvina quickly changed into a different human in a dark corner. Alvina was an extremely powerful dragon. She could become a human, a dragon, a snake, a tiger, and could control earth. This new girl was the same height she had icy blue eyes and shoulder length brown hair with light purple streaks. She went off in search of food. Alvina stopped at a food cart and bought herself a slab of beef. She tossed the man who owned the cart a silver coin. She slunk into the shadow and became a tiger. Alvina devoured the beef and licked her lips when she finished. Alvina assumed one of her human forms. The one with brown and purple hair. She skipped off until a she sensed something odd and stopped.
Posters were tacked up every where. All of them had a picture of a man on them. A man with long shaggy blood red hair and tanned skin. The picture’s eyes were golden. He had a clean shaven face as well. A small diamond hung around his neck. The poster read, “Wanted Alive: Heshwick. Reward: 10,000 gold pieces.” A large black lab sat looking at the poster nearest to him. The dog had a shaggy black coat and blood shot golden eyes. A small diamond was on the dog’s chest. The lab was Heshwick in dog form. He was a dog Animagus. Heshwick knew everyone was looking for his human form, not a dog however. Heshwick was incredibly thin from the lack of edible food. He jogged off to beg for some food from the people around. Heshwick approached a group of old men in tattered suits. A young boy with the men looked at Heshwick, seeing a poor dog not a wanted man. He held a green whicker basket with raw meats in it. The boy tossed Heshwick a small slab of veal. Heshwick wagged his tail happily and devoured the meat. None of the old men noticed. He jogged off and ducked behind a cluster of bushes. Heshwick’s golden eyes glowed from behind the bushes. A human girl skipped by. Her hair was brown with purple streaks. She stopped. The girl seemed to be senescing something. Heshwick shrank back in the bushes. Hoping he wouldn’t be detected. “Come out,” the girl commanded in a tired voice. Heshwick reluctantly came forward. “I am Alvina a transformer. Who are you?” Alvina introduced herself formally. Heshwick jogged to a dark ally and Alvina followed. Heshwick became human. His hair was messier than on the poster. “I am Heshwick a dog Animagus,” he replied. Alvina gasped, “You are that wanted man!” Heshwick shook his head. “I didn’t!…..” Heshwick was interrupted by a giggle from Alvina. “I know,” she laughed quietly, “Hreidmar just can’t stand to have anyone threatening his plans for us.” Heshwick nodded and became a dog again. Hreidmar was the cruel man who named himself ruler of Obscura. Alvina walked off with Heshwick trailing behind her.
