Darkstar padded into his den, curled up, then seemed to make up his mind about something. Sticking his head out of the den again, he yowled out the name of one of his warriors and his medicine cat.
"Firepoppy! Cinderleaf!" he called out. The large black tom backed back into his den before pacing impatiently. He needed to talk to both cats, yet not about the same thing.

Firepoppy padded into the the leader's den, at Darkstar's call. "Yes, Darkstar," she meowed, her eyes gleaming with a little bit of annoyance.

"Ah, good," Darkstar meowed, eyes gleaming confidently. "I hope I did not interupt you from anything?"

Darkstar nodded to show his pleasure, then got to the point. "At the Gathering, you mentioned to me to be careful about Foxpaw," he meowed, after checking to see that Cinderleaf had not arrived yet. "Would you explain what you mean?"

"Well," Firepoppy said, "when Mouseclaw died, he was just standing where he was, looking at nothing, and now he is starting to be rude to his siblings. I just sense that something is worng with him." the ginger she-cat said, looking the leader in the eye.

Cinderleaf padded to the entrance, "Darkstar it's me Cinderleaf, may I come in?"

"Hmm," meowed Darkstar, before hearing Cinderleaf's voice calling. He padded towards her. "Ah, Cinderleaf. Would you wait just one moment?"
He padded back to nod to Firepoppy, lowering his voice. "I'll keep an eye on him," he said confidently. "You may go." The black tom turned to escort her out of the den. "And thank you for telling me."
He nodded to Cinderleaf, indicating that she could come in.

"Sure" she said, then saw Firepoppy come out and Darkstar nodd for her to come in, "Yes?" She said as she sat in his den.

"Cinderleaf," Darkstar began. "You are my medicine cat, and therefore the one cat I know I can trust." He sighed. "Being a leader is no walk in the forest, I can tell you that." He closed his eyes, then opened them again. "Tell me - do you think our Clan is operating well? Everything's fine? Our fresh-kill pile is still strong... do you think the patrols are getting out on time? That our borders are protected enough?" There was a slight edge to his voice, and he looked Cinderleaf in the eye.

"I kinda do think we do, but we have been getting on great." Cinderleaf told her leader.

Darkstar looked at her and nodded. "Thank you, Cinderleaf," he meowed, calmness echoing in his voice. "That is all I wanted." He nodded to her and then padded out of the den, leaving her to do whatever she so wished at that moment.
